06. Traffic in towns

There are many ways of getting about town. In most big cities people have a wide choice of tram, bus, trolley-bus and underground routes in addition to a taxi service. Trams, trolley-buses and buses stop to pick up passengers at special stops. During the morning rush hours, with so many people hurrying to work, the vehicles are usually overcrowded. During the evening rush hours, with everyone hurrying home, they are packed full, too. If the passenger does not find a vacant seat, he usually holds on to a trap to keep from falling. Sometimes the bus you are on does not take you right to your destination. In this case you have to take another bus, you have to change buses.

Crowded trains and buses make people with private cars use them to travel to work. Driving in city traffic, often results in getting into a traffic jam. Driving in heavy traffic during the rush hours is not only slower than walking but also more dangerous.
